We offer a book on the day service to speak to a GP or ANP, please ring at 8am to book a triage appointment.  The practice has a telephone system with unlimited lines, and you will be placed in a queue when you call us, please stay in the queue (or select a ringback via the options given).   If you hang up and redial you will unfortunately be put to the end of the queue again.  The receptionist will ask you for a very brief description of your problem to book you with the appropriate health care professional.  During your triage call the clinician will determine if you need to be seen face to face and arrange that with you.

If you do not want to book an appointment and your call can wait until later in the day, it would be advisable to call after 10 am.

Home visits

Home visit requests, whenever possible, should be made before 10.00 am. Please call only if the patient is too ill or disabled to attend the surgery.

Practice Nurse/Healthcare Assistant appointments

Practice nurse/Healthcare Assistant appointments can be pre-booked up to 4-weeks in advance. The receptionist will ask you for a reason for the appointment with the nurse in order to be able to allow the appropriate length of time for the procedure.

Waiting / delays during consultations

We appreciate how frustrating it can be when delayed for a scheduled appointment. There are sometimes unavoidable situations which have an impact. For example, a diagnosis made during the consultation which may need further explanation or an emergency situation which is identified when examining a patient.

We will do our best to minimise delays, but please help us by considering the following when making an appointment.

One appointment is for one patient

Patients who have a few items to discuss should request a longer appointment time when booking, otherwise the doctor may ask the patient to book a further appointment.

Practice DNA policy

Appointments which are made and not kept or cancelled incur cost to doctors, nurses and administration staff in terms of time and also deny other patients of the opportunity to be seen.  Due to the number of patients failing to attend for their pre-booked appointments, the practice will enforce the following policy.

If you fail to attend an appointment without informing us we will write to you, then if you fail to attend for a further appointment we shall write to you for a second time advising that if you fail to attend any future pre-booked appointment you may be removed from the practice list.
